The First Division League, popularly known as the NBC Championship Tanzania, is one of the most popular competitions in Tanzania. The Championship League is the second largest in Tanzania behind the Mainland Tanzania Premier League (NBC Premier League), and provides an opportunity for teams to showcase their talent and advance to the Premier League each season. The NBC Championship involves 16 teams from various regions in Tanzania, which play a full league system with each team meeting another team twice (home and away).
